The Marquardt's Service to the park

David and Carol Marquardt volunteered over 400 hours to get Flint Ledge Trail open over the last two years. They were assisted by their dog is CJ and our naturalist, Scott Johnson. Scott was always impressed that they took plastic bags down the trail and brought CJ's discharge back every day after working their you know whats off.

They also cut down all the sumac at the south end picnic area the last two years so we can actually see the Mississippi River. Before they arrived it was the Sumac View picnic area. They also were able to open the trail between the park observatory and the naturalist's office after the power lines were buried last year. The power company did a poor job of filling in their mess so there were holes so big one could almost stand in them. Not good for kids riding their bikes down the trail............................
